Monthly payment
How the payment is calculated
This uses the standard loan amortization formula: M = P × r(1+r)n ÷ ((1+r)n − 1), where P is the amount financed, r is the monthly interest rate (APR ÷ 12), and n is the number of monthly payments. At 0% interest, the payment is simply the amount financed divided by the term.
Frequently asked questions
How is a truck loan payment calculated?
Using a standard amortization formula on the amount financed (price minus down payment), the monthly interest rate (APR divided by 12), and the loan term in months. The result is the fixed monthly payment that pays off the loan by the end of the term.
How much down payment do I need for a truck loan?
It varies by lender, credit and whether the truck is new or used. A larger down payment lowers the amount financed, which lowers both the monthly payment and total interest paid.
What interest rate should I expect on a truck loan?
Commercial truck loan rates vary with credit, time in business, and the lender, and change with broader interest rate conditions. Get quotes from a few lenders rather than assuming a rate; use this calculator to compare offers side by side.
