How the reserve is estimated
This uses simple age-based rule-of-thumb rates as a starting point, editable if you have your own numbers:
- 0-2 years: about $0.12 per mile
- 3-5 years: about $0.18 per mile
- 6-8 years: about $0.25 per mile
- 9+ years: about $0.35 per mile
Yearly reserve = rate per mile × annual miles. These are rough planning figures, not a quote or a guarantee; your own repair history is always the better number once you have a few years of it.
